The recruitment of specialized healthcare professionals has been a problem for the Government of the United Kingdom for a number of years. Occupational therapy is one of those areas where it is felt this. Throughout the country, regional and national newspapers carry advertisements for qualified OT to fill the vacancies that appear to prevail in a meaningful way the candidates. Whist this is a welcome move, the 3 and 4 years the duration of these courses does little to curb a problem that is immediate.

Specialist recruitment agencies (http://www.rigot.co.uk) have appeared in subsequent years, in an attempt to address this deficiency. Their activities were not limited to the United Kingdom, using the laws on immigration ' to import professionals from Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, in an attempt to fill the void of occupational therapy jobs.

The problem persists and, despite applicants increased to University courses, newspapers continue to advertise job vacancies in occupational therapy and will continue to do so for some time.
